COVID-19: Closures & Cancellations

Governor Walz extended the Stay Home Order until May 18 in order to continue Minnesota’s success in slowing the spread of COVID-19 across the state. All City facilities will remain closed to the public until May 18, 2020. From a city government and business standpoint, please know that we will continue to deliver essential services with a focus on public safety and utilities. All city employees who can work remotely will continue to do so. It's important to us to continue serving our community during this difficult time. We encourage residents to conduct as much business as possible on our website or by email and phone. 


The following facilities are closed:

  • McColl Pond Environmental Learning and Event Center (ELC)  (through June 30)
  • Park shelters (through June 30)
  • All meeting room rentals at Savage City Hall (through June 30). (renter refunds will be issued)
  • Savage Sports Center (closed for the season)


We have also made the decision to cancel or postpone non-essential events in City-owned facilities through June 30 and Savage Parks and Recreation programs and events through August 31. Cancellations include:

  • City Commissioner Appreciation Dinner on March 17 
  • Flashlight Egg Scramble on April 3  (refunds will be issued)
  • McColl Pond ELC Open House on April 4  
  • Service Day Saturday on April 18 on the Savage City Campus - Postponed until further notice
  • Arbor Day Celebration on April 25
  • Server Awareness Training on March 23 and 24 - Postponed until further notice
  • Savage Recycling Day on May 2 - Postponed until further notice
  • Citywide Open House on May 12 - Postponed until further notice
  • Savage Parks and Recreation Youth Summer Programs and Activities (refunds will be issued)
    • Dan Patch 5K Powder Dash & 1-Mile Fun Run (refunds will be issued)
    • Music in the Park - Canceled
    • Movies in the Outfield - Canceled
