City will operate aeration system on McColl Pond
The City of Savage will operate an aeration system in McColl Pond this winter, which may result in unsafe ice conditions on large portions of the lake. The aeration system operations will begin when ice forms and will continuing for the duration of the winter. Anyone using the lake should be aware of the danger of open water or thin ice.
The aeration system, to be installed near the west shoreline and near the fishing pier, is used to keep fish alive by assuring they receive sufficient oxygen throughout the winter. McColl Pond is located in Community Park, west of the intersection of 135th street and Dakota Avenue (County Road 27). A portion of the pond is within the McColl Pond Environmental Learning Center area. Please call 952-224-3400 with any questions.
