Arrest Made in Savage Murder Case


(Tuesday, March 3, 2020) On Friday February 28, 2020, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the Savage Police Department responded to the west parking lot of Target regarding the report of a male bleeding from the head who was semi-conscious and breathing.  

Upon arrival, officers located an unidentified male victim lying on the parking lot and bleeding from the head area.  The victim was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center.  On Saturday February 29, 2020, the juvenile victim, age 16, died from a gunshot wound to the head.  

On Tuesday, March 3, 2020, the Savage Police Department made arrests related to the incident.

The suspects arrested have been identified as:

 Taran Cortez Miller, age 44
Prior Lake, MN
Charge: 2nd Degree Murder

 Tanya Marie Esthell Miller, age 43
Prior Lake, MN
Charge: Aiding an Offender, 2nd Degree Murder

 Juvenile, age 16
Prior Lake, MN
Charge: 2nd Degree Murder

 All three suspects are being held in the Scott County Jail but have not been formally charged.  The case will be forwarded to the Scott County Attorney’s Office. 

This case remains under investigation by the Savage Police Department with the assistance from the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Prior Lake Police Department, Shakopee Police Department and the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.  No additional information will be provided at this time.
