Crime Prevention: IRS Scams

By the Savage Police Department

Post Date:02/24/2020 7:24 AM

It’s tax season, which means it’s also tax scam season. Our #1 tip to always remember and share with elderly parents and relatives:

The IRS will never call to demand immediate payment using a specific method such as prepaid debit cards, gift cards or wire transfers. Generally, the IRS will first mail you a bill if you owe taxes.

Don’t fall victim to this scam. This is your hard-earned money. Don’t let someone steal that from you. For more information on IRS and tax scams, go to irs.gov. If you believe you are the victim of a scam, please contact the Savage Police Department at 952-882-2600
