Garbage & Recycling

Garbage Collection
Savage residents and businesses contract with private refuse haulers in order to dispose of waste. Businesses must be licensed with the City in order to operate and collect in Savage.

Most refuse haulers provide a recycling service (and the necessary containers) to their customers. In addition, Savage residents are encouraged to use the drop-off center, Buckingham Recycling. Some materials are accepted free of charge, for others there is a fee.

Hazardous Waste
Scott County has a Household Hazardous Waste Facility available for use by residents. The facility provides for the proper disposal of household hazardous waste to limit impacts to health and ground water. Household hazardous wastes include, but are not limited to:

  • solvents
  • household cleaners
  • pesticides
  • paint
  • wood preservatives
  • aerosols
  • batteries
  • automotive oil
  • antifreeze
