Although the original fire department charter was not signed by the Village of Savage until September 10th, 1951, July 20th, 1951 marked the first official meeting of the Savage Fire Department. Six members were present. Following that meeting, additional members were added throughout the year. By the end of 1951, the Village of Savage Fire Department had 22 members.

This was the first building the fire department used.
It was located next door to where Station "60" was built in the mid 1960s. In the early years, the firefighters were alerted by a fire whistle that was mounted to the water tower. That fire whistle was used until the mid-1970s when the department switched to a pager system.
The water tower stood until the early 1990's.
