This year Fire Prevention Week is October 5 - 11th. This year's theme is:
“Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives: Test Yours Every Month!”
As in the past, we will have several crews at the different elementary schools and daycare centers to talk about fire safety.
Our annual Fire Prevention Week Open House will be Tuesday, October 7, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. As is the pas, we will have free food, door prizes, fire truck rides and demonstrations. We hope you are able to join us.
Our firefighters spend countless hours hosting and working at the various events throughout the year.
Pancake Breakfast & Open House
Held in conjunction with Dan Patch Days; at our Dakota Avenue Fire Station, this event is open to the general public and has been very successful. Approximately 800 people attend this event. 2014 marked our 17th annual breakfast.
The department sells 100 tickets for this event. Each ticket, for two, is $150. These tickets are most commonly purchased by business owners. There is a steak or chicken dinner and cash drawings are held. This event is typically held the second Monday of October.
This fundraiser was started in 1999. A committee was formed to sell advertising on a calendar. The firefighters hand deliver the calendars to the residents in Savage around Fire Prevention Week.
