Keep your full-time job while working for the Savage Fire Department! Being a paid, on-call firefighter is a unique way to serve your community. Savage firefighters maintain regular jobs and live regular lives -- responding to calls as needed. The men and women currently serving on the Savage Fire Department include teachers, construction workers, health care specialists, insurance agents, engineers, IT experts, equipment operators, business managers and more. No previous experience is necessary, all required training is provided.
Our firefighters spend countless hours hosting and working at the various events throughout the year.
Pancake Breakfast & Open House
Held in conjunction with Dan Patch Days; at our Dakota Avenue Fire Station, this event is open to the general public and has been very successful. Approximately 800 people attend this event. 2013 will be our mark our 16th annual breakfast.
The department sells 100 tickets for this event. Each ticket, for two, is $150. These tickets are most commonly purchased by business owners. There is a steak or chicken dinner and cash drawings are held. This event is typically held the second Monday of October.
This fundraiser was started in 1999. A committee was formed to sell advertising on a calendar. The firefighters hand deliver the calendars to the residents in Savage around Fire Prevention Week.
