			Administration Finance Public Works Utility Services Parks Public Safety Engineering Building Inspections Economic Development Community Development			Economic Department Overview The Economic Development Department of the City of Savage is responsible for attracting new businesses to the community, retaining existing businesses, assisting businesses with expansion, and enabling the rehabilitation and/or redevelopment of areas within the community. The department relies on support and input from the City's Economic Development Commission. This commission plays a critical role in advising the Economic Development Authority on all matters relating to the economic development of the community. The Economic Development Authority (EDA) is the official decision-making body when it comes to economic development. The EDA is made up of members of the City Council. Market Place at 42 The Economic Development Commission meets monthly on the third Wednesday. All meetings are held in the City Hall Conference Room. The EDA meets as necessary following regular City Council meetings. City Development Philosophy Emphasis on new commercial/industrial development needs to be balanced with an aggressive, innovative strategy for rehabilitating the Hamilton area and the previously established commercial/industrial business activity along Highway 13 and Highway 101. The Eagle Creek Business Park The objective of the department's five year work plan is to implement an ongoing economic development program that stresses job retention, job creation, tax base enhancement and downtown revitalization. Results of this work plan are projected to be an annual addition of $2 million in commercial/industrial tax capacity, and an annual addition of 100 new jobs in the commercial/industrial sector.        APPROVED PROJECTS   Commercial Residential Other Projects   Commercial Buffalo Wild Wings Located north of Super Target within the Savage Crossings Development 5,500 square foot restaurant/bar Opened Eagle Creek Commerce Center III Located NE of Hwy 13 & Connelly Parkway (north of Goodyear) New 1.62 acre lot for Starbucks First Resource Bank Located NW of CR 42 & Huntington Ave. within the Southcross Shoppes Commercial development. 4,703 square foot bank with a 2-lane drive-thru facility Opened Savage Commerce Center Located NE of CR 42 & Rutgers Ave. (SW of Rainbow) 8,640 square foot multi-tenant commercial building Proposed tenants include Foss swim instruction school and possible coffee shop or fast food establishment. Opened Savage Crossings Professional Building Located within the Savage Crossings Development (north of Target) 7,200 square foot building to accommodate children's dental clinic and office space Currently under construction Savage Lofts Located within the Savage Business Park (Hwy 13 & 128th St.) multi-tenant office/warehouse loft style units First phase construction to begin Summer 2005 Savage Professional Center Two lots located east of South Park Dr. and Quebec Ave (SE of Target).   The lot south of South Park Dr. will contain Primrose Daycare School.
