Farmer's market season to begin June 22
The 2008 St. Paul's Farmer Market will kick off it's second season in Savage on Sunday, June 22. More than 160 local growers and producers will bring their products to the town square at Highway 13 and 123rd Street from
8:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Sunday. The farmer's market will run through October 12.
McColl Pond Environmental Learning Center
Construction on the Environmental Learning Center is expected to begin this week at Community Park. The building will be constructed of recycled materials and will incorporate several environmentally-friendly features that will result in a model for sustainable design. These include, but are not limited to, a green roof and rain gardens to filter storm water; and geothermal and solar devices to heat and cool the building.
When complete this fall, the ELC will be a multi-purpose facility that can be used by community members of all ages.
It will be home to the City’s existing environmental education program with local elementary schools. With a capacity for more than 200 people, the building may be rented by the public to hold meetings or celebrate graduations, anniversaries, birthdays, family reunions, weddings and other occasions. Accessible during the day, the ELC also offers the community a place to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings of McColl Pond — perhaps while taking a lunch or coffee break. A number of recreation programs sponsored by the City also will be held at the ELC.
